The Incubation Megavote is ready and we’re very happy to present the three artist’s who will be granted €10.000 and ETH11 as well as residencies and presentations at venues around Europe. Si, it’s not bad at all!
First of all we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the artists that have been applying as well as Andrea Salustri and ROOM100 that have made their performances MATERIA and C8H11NO2 available for re-versioning by other artists. Thank you so much!
THE WINNERS:
MARIJA BARANAUSKAITÈ
Granted €10.000
Marija Baranauskaitė is the first Lithuanian who has completed clown theatre studies at the international clown school of Philippe Gaulier in France. Before that, she completed her studies in contemporary dance at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Since 2013, she works as a professional performer and artist who hosts creative workshops. She is an actor of organisation Red Noses Clowndoctors, also the organisation’s art director (2018-2020).
Since there are no festivals for objects, Marija had to find ways to involve her work in human festivals, which she successfully did and performed in multiple circus, dance, and performance art festivals across Europe.
UTKA GAVUZZO
Granted €10.000
Utka Nehuen Gavuzzo was born in Argentina, where he discovered the circus at the age of 16 and since then chose to dedicate himself entirely to the study of movement and the performing arts, creating a lifestyle that allowed him to investigate his talents full time. Taking courses in dance, acrobatics, theater, circus, music and martial arts, specializing particularly in juggling and movement. In 2019 he naturalized in Italy and studied at the Atelier of physical theater Philip Radice.
Having understood since he was a child that he did not want to be pigeonholed in a discipline, his intention has always been to cultivate a body available and a language of his own where everything he has learned merges, allowing him to create and develop in various artistic fields, as a performer, director and musician. He has toured the world in more than 26 countries as part of projects such as: The Drifting Circus and Free style Circus. He is currently working in The Electric brothers, Cie lumen (Switzerland), and with the Acrocinus Collective.
CECILIA MANFRINI
Granted Ξ11 [eleven Ethereum]
Cecilia Manfrini is a creator and performer in Circus, dance and physical theatre. Starting as an acrobat she specialized in Cloudswing, contortion and dance acrobatics. Lately she’s been diving into the world of object manipulation with knives, and in the fascinating world of Fakirism working with Glass. She’s investigating glass and water and the world of sounds these two elements can produce. She’s thrilled to be part of the metamorphosis of "C8H11NO2” by ROOM100 specially because the topic touches her deeply due to her family history.
Now time for proof of concept
We are so much looking forward to the production process of all these productions. On top of this The Sphere granted Andrea Salustri and ROOM100 €10.000 each to create new versions of their own original productions. This means that The Sphere is currently co-producing 5 new artistic works. Stay tuned for more information and don’t hesitate to share this newsletter.
LOVE,
The Sphere
The Sphere
The Sphere is a research-creation project funded by Creative Europe exploring and developing new ecologies of funding for the performing arts. Inspired by recent innovations in the field of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, our goal is to redistribute the risks and opportunities of making art by facilitating the creative involvement of invested audiences at different stages of the artistic and curatorial process.
As a collaborative and emergent web 3.0 infrastructure, The Sphere is a call for experimentation that challenges the traditional frameworks of cultural production. We envisage a world in which audiences co-own the artworks they love together with the artists, technicians, cultural professionals, collectors and other stakeholders of a given project. We believe that this model of collective fractal ownership will allow for new types of production to grow in the near future.
All in all, The Sphere is about new ways of being creative together, fostering a spirit of speculative generosity by making the success of one performance a catalyst for the whole art community.
