🫀The Sphere's seed artists ROOM100 are remaking their legendary performance at Berlin Circus Festival!
We've visited them recently during their residency and made an interview about their 🧬derivation process🧬.
"We have been researching the topic of schizophrenia since 2008, aiming to deepen our understanding of neurodiversity, but also to raise the awareness and sensibility of the public about its different dimensions and complexities. Too often, allegedly liberal and enlightened individuals harbor unavowed aversion and dread toward mental disorders.. Now, we are happy to share our research and our method with those who are interested in creating an engaging piece about schizophrenia that will broaden the audience’s consciousness about neurodiversity."
The Sphere is proud to present a new derivative work of seed artists "Room 100" (Croatia) C8H11NO2, the first show by Room 100, stunned the jury of the Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe 2009 - 2010, earning the young Croatian company an award and the highest score in the ten year long project's history. The critics praised C8H11NO2 as an “exceptional example of an intelligent, accurate, deliberate and intensive work”.
13 years later In 2022, C8H11NO2 has been selected through the initial Open Call by the Sphere community as seed artists. The Seed artists lay the fundament for the Sphere lineages, in which artists collaborate to recreate exceptional Circus art shows. By redistributing the risks and opportunities of making Circus art, The Sphere creates a new ecology in which audiences co-own the artworks they love together with the artists, collectors and other stakeholders of a given project.
The selection has led Room 100 now to produce a new version of their original work during a residency at Berlin Circus Festival. Watch out for Berlin Circus Festival 13-20 August 2023 in Berlin at Tempelhofer Feld!
We are also overjoyed about our very first lineages forming through Marija Baranauskaite and Utka Gavuzzo re-making Andrea Salustri's Materia, as well as Cecile Manfrini re-making C8H11N02, originally created by Room 100.
