Thanks to all artists who have applied!
First of all we’d like to thank all the past CircusNext laureates that wants to participate in our experimental NFT journey toward a new model of value production for the performing arts.
Thanks so much!
24 artists and companies applied which means that more than 25% of all laureates and shortlisted companies from the last 20 years are still committed to discover new formats and ways to explore what circus can become. This is overwhelming indeed!
Next Step
The next step is to for the EU—partners of The Sphere together with Curve Labs, Black Swan DAO and a few more people from the crypto field to discuss the applications and do a small scale Quadratic Voting (QV) to decide which six companies and artists that will be presented in our virtual gallery when it opens in March 2022. The use of QV for this particular selection is a way for the team and the partners to try out what this method feels like and how it works.
After we have a common understanding of the method through lived experience we can discuss how to shape our large scale community vote later in the spring. In which around 800 participants of the circus ecosystem will select one of the works in the gallery to receive additional funding by The Sphere, and have other artists get funding to create versions of that work.
We will of course invite all who applied in the Open Call, plus additional artists, companies and cultural professionals to join The Sphere Community. To get know how to participate and create proposals for future performances and happenings to get initiated and funded.
We will let you know which six companies and projects that has been selected already next week!
Bonus material!
And as if this was not enough, here’s Sara de Vylder, (ex)producer and initiator of The Sphere talking about one way for performances to live on in The Sphere.
Have an amazing week!
